Privacy policy
Snappy keeps everything on your computer.
Effective 8 November 2026
What Snappy collects
Nothing. Snappy has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no servers of its own. It doesn't send your data to anyone, and nobody, including its developer, can see what you snap.
What Snappy keeps
Three settings, saved in your browser's storage for extensions: the file format, the resolution limit, and whether Force max limit is on. They never leave your browser, and removing Snappy deletes them.
Your snaps
When you snap, Snappy draws the frame on screen into an image on your computer and saves it to your downloads folder. The file is named after the video's title and the moment in the video. Nothing is uploaded.
Where Snappy runs
Only on youtube.com. There it adds the shutter and Snap! buttons, listens for Shift+S, and reads the video's title and current time to name your file. With Force max limit on, it asks YouTube's own player to switch to a sharper quality for the one frame you snap, then switches it back, the same as picking a quality in YouTube's menu. Snappy doesn't read any other site.
Permissions
- Storage: to keep your three settings.
- Active tab: so the popup's Manual download button can snap the YouTube tab you're on.
- YouTube: to add Snappy's buttons and shortcut to youtube.com.
Other companies
Snappy's popup loads its font, Fredoka, from Google Fonts. Opening the popup therefore makes a request to Google's font servers, which see your IP address the way they do for any website that uses Google Fonts. Snappy sends Google nothing else. YouTube itself is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
This website
snappy.minavian.com has no cookies, analytics or trackers, and serves its own fonts. It's hosted on Cloudflare, which may keep standard server logs.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
